Record Breaking Australia Day.

The North West Athletic Club hosted the State 3000m Championships and the 800m Relay Championships along with our usual interclub competition at the Penguin Track on Australia Day. Zahli Westcombe broke the club's Under 14 and Under 15 3000m records and taking the gold in the Under 15 3000m State Championships. Meanwhile Chelsea Scolyer set a blistering pace breaking both club and state records in the 100m and club records in the 200m.

Interclub 2 Feb Cancelled

After consulting with stakeholders the interclub scheduled for tonight will be cancelled. The forecast is for heavy rain and very strong winds with a temperature of 12 degrees at 6pm. Hopefully the rest of our Thursday evening meets will be in very warm and calm conditions.

The Girls Are Breaking Records!

Ashley Fehlberg and Zahli Wescombe are putting down some great performances leading into the second half of the season. Ashley ended 2022 breaking her own U15 & U16 1500m record improving her time from 4:47.21 to 4:44.38. Then starting 2023 with an 800m time that took Charli Kay's 2018 U15 record of 2:20.36 improving it to 2:19.25. Not to be out done Zahli started the new year also taking a record from Charli Kay. Zahli took Charli's 2017 U14 800m record of 2:21.95 with a time of 2:20.80.

Ashley Fehlberg broke another club record this time flying home in the 3000m at interclub on Saturday.

Club records broken at interclub on Saturday

It was great to see some record breaking performances at interclub on Saturday. Jennifer Fuller broke her own Under 16 Shotput record improving the mark she set last year from 12.26m to 12.50m. Ashley Fehlberg ran a great 1500m breaking both the Under 15 and Under 16 club records. Ashley's time of 4:47.21 will take over the Under 15 record of 4:52.30 held by D Moore since 1995 and the Under 16 record of 4:48.70 held by B Matkavich since 1990. Congratulations to both of you!

A great turn-out for the first meet of Season 22/23

It was great to see you all back for the start of the 22/23 Season. You can find the results for the meet on our website under the 'Interclub Results' tab. Our new uniforms have started arriving and it will be exciting to see athletes in the new kit as the season progresses. If you haven't ordered the new uniform, our previous one is still ok to wear until the end of the 23/24 season. If you are new or are without an NWAC uniform we ask that you wear a plain white singlet.

NWAC Awards Dinner - Save the Date!

The NWAC awards dinner will be held at Windows on Westella, April 29th at 6:30pm. More details to follow in the coming weeks. We would LOVE to see as many athletes, coaches, officials and family there as possible. It is typically a great night with good food. After such a great season at the club we hope to see all athletes in attendance.

Huge congratulations to all of our athletes who competed at the Tasmanian State Championships on the weekend. It was great to see our members taking part and reaping the rewards of all that hard training during the season.

Extra Interclub's after State Championships *New Start Time 5/3/22

We are looking forward to seeing you all as Interclub continues with 2 meets added to the calendar after the State Championships. We have added a twilight meet on Thursday 24th February starting at 6:30pm and a Saturday meet on the 5th of March starting at 9:30am.
